KARAMA - A JOURNEY THROUGH ARAB, PUNJAB AND KARACHI UNDER ONE ROOF

"KARAMA" .. Its all exciting when you hear the name and sss this cute little arabian paradise is  located in the busy bustling streets of Frazer Town, Bangalore will excite you and leaves you spellbounded. Walk with me through this journey of Karama to relish some interesting Arabian, Punjabi and Karachi Cuisine.

"KARAMA"  is a part of the very famous restaurant "EMPIRE". There is a successful history of Hotel Empire which began with a start of a small restaurant on CentralStreet, Shivaji Nagar in 1966 by Mr. Abdul Rahim . For almost five decade the Empire group has successfully conquered the hearts and taste buds of many bangaloreans.  My hearty congratulations on their golden jubilee. Thanks team FBAB and Karama for the invite. That was a lovely time dining with KARAMA

Ambience :
Once you enter Karama, you can feel as if you are walking through the streets of Arabian world with the majlis ( a place where you sit down and eat with your family/friends ) onto your sides with displays of shisha's and with a lot of appealing foods displayed in the entrance itself. The majlis rightly does the work of transporting you to the Arab world with lots of themed paintings. This is all in the ground floor..

the majlis - where the arabs used to sit as a gathering and relish their food

karama welcomes you with this tempting display of food
Climb up the stairs, reach the first floor and feel VOWWWW with the decors. It is beautifully and uniquely interiored with lots of lanterns hanging above, intricate glass works, with majlis, pouffe style seatings.. Awww.. the ambience is amazingly done.

the majlis
This two floored Ottoman world will definitely tie you tight to this place. This Ottoman World also offers a wide range of Punjabi and Karachi Cuisine too..

Lets speak on food.

Welcome Drinks :
We were served with Qahwah and Mexican Soda
Qahwah - It is an Arabian coffee, lightest of the coffee roasts, was a mild coffee.

Mexican Soda - A refreshing green drink, spiced up with green chilli. was unique.

Soups :
We were served with Yakhni (mutton) , Chicken, Tomato dhaniya and Dal Shorba.

Salad :
Fattoush , Tabouleh and Russian Salad.

Loved the Fattoush and Tabouleh was nicely done with a sprinkle of arbian spice .The flavours were strong and every bite was healthy loaded with veggies

Starters :
Non-Veg Starters :
We were served with a variety of non veg starters like Al-Faham Dajaj, BBQ fish boneless, Dajaj cheese bbq, Rubiyan mashwi, Dajaj Fajita, Prawns fried..

Chicked starters

sea- food starters

Loved all these, my favourites were the yummm prawns, perfectly done with a sprinkle of freshs spices. well presented too,, the Dajaj cheese bbq. was unique to me, chicken breast sandwiched with stuffings of spinach, corn and cheese. was outstandingly done.

Veg Starters:
Karama does justice to their veg patrons too.. Exclusively crafted veg starters were served.. Veg sheek, dahi kabab, cheese hara bara, spicy potato.

The dahi kabab and cheese hara bara was a real show stealer, have never had such amazizng dahi kebabs in the whole of  bangalore, it was so soft, melty, dahi oozing out yet perfectly done with a crispy outer layer, the chef works out some magic here i guess. I also loved the cheese hara bara for its vibrant colour, cheesy spiceness, it was an amazing delicacy that no one can stop with one.

Breads :
They had Karachi Naan ( a huge naan prepared in the karachi style, am sure one cannot finish it fully), Alu Kulcha , Lachedar Paratha and Kheema Naan. All of them tasted good, my pick was the kheema naan.

Main Courses :
Non-Veg:
Tawa bheja - brain curry, Karachi Dum Gosht, Rara Murgh, Rogan Josh

Veg Curries :
Creamy dal makhani, palak paneer, tawa mushroom, I loved the creamy dal makhani.

tawa mushroom - was everyones favourite
My favourite out of the lot was tawa musroon, perfectly done with crisp onions, capsicums and fresh white mushroom cubed to perfect shape. I recommend vegetarians to try out this amazing tawa mushroom of KARAMA, am sure you too will fall in love with it.

There is a famous saying in the Arab world

Al akl 'ala kadd el mahabeh -  "the food equals the affection".

Too much pampering with food and it continues with Biryani and Pulao

karachi biriyani
We were served the Mandi Biriyani, ( cooked in a mandi ) , Karachi Biriyani ( the aroma of cinnamom/cloves was overpowering with the taste of pepper ) , Punjabi Chicken Biriyani, Veg Pulao and Peas Pulao . A paradise to biriyani explorers.

Juice and Milk Shakes :
Abudi , Anjeer milkshake, Arush, Lebanese cocktail were on the menu, I tasted the anjeer Milk shake - a drink made out with dates, fig, dressed with chocolate syrup turned out to be my favourite.

Desserts :
Karama knows to rightly win the show with their deliciouso desserts Gulab Jamoon, Dhoodi Ka Halwa and Gajar Ka Halwa.

the yummy doodhi halwa- stole everyones heart
I have to talk about the Dhoodi Ka Halwa we all loved it, such a vibrant yet subtle green color, with the right amount of sweetness, loaded with crushed nuts, tutti-fruity on the top. Who would not fall in love with these delicacies..

It was too many delicacies,  hearty tummy, pampered to the core with their hospitality and food.
